Residence Halls 2009–10

Early Fall Start 2009

The Early Fall Start 2009 Housing period has concluded, and this information is provided for reference only. Information for Early Fall Start 2010 Housing will be available in early Spring, 2010.

Early Fall Start (EFS) is an elective program designed to give freshmen an early start to the academic year. Students take one intensive four-week course prior to the beginning of the 2009–10 academic year and earn five credits. Students also participate in related academic and social events and may choose to live in the residence halls. Visit the EFS website for more information.

Residence hall housing is available to University of Washington (UW) students registered for the EFS program who will also live in the residence halls during the 2009–10 academic year. Students will be assigned to double or triple rooms in Lander Hall.

We expect to have space available for all students who apply for EFS housing.

Application Tips

Applications received by July 1

We will attempt to assign you to the same room for both the EFS period and the 2009–10 academic year. However, you may be assigned to a different room if you request a Theme Community for autumn quarter.

Applications received after July 1

  • You will likely be assigned to a triple room for the EFS period even if you are assigned to a double room for the academic year.

  • It is likely that you will be assigned to a different residence hall and/or room for the academic year.

  • If you are assigned to a different residence hall and/or room for the academic year, you will be required to move from your EFS room to your academic year room on Sunday, September 20, 2009.

  •

Requesting a Roommate for EFS

  • If you and another EFS applicant apply by July 1 and request one another as roommates for both EFS and the 2000–10 academic year, we will make every effort to assign you together in Lander Hall for both EFS and the academic year.

  • If one or both of you apply after July 1, we will attempt to assign you together for both periods; however, it is likely that you will be assigned to a different residence hall and/or room for the academic year. If this happens, you will be required to move to the new room on Sunday, September 20, 2009.

  • If you request a roommate for the 2009–10 academic year who is not participating in EFS, we will attempt to assign you together for the academic year. Please note; however, that it is likely you will be assigned to a different residence hall and/or room for the 2009–10 academic year, in which case you will be required to move to the new room on Sunday, September 20, 2009.
