Residence Halls 2009–10 Application Information
Thank you for your interest in living in the University of Washington (UW) residence halls.
Demand for residence hall housing is very high and a waiting list has been established for the 2009–10 academic year. You may apply now if you would like your name added to the waiting list for autumn quarter.
If you prefer not to be on the waiting list for autumn quarter housing you may apply for winter quarter housing. Applications for winter quarter housing are now being accepted and we expect to have adequate space to house all applicants who apply for winter quarter.
Before accessing the online housing application, please take a few minutes to review the Application Tips, below, and visit the links provided for information regarding rates, assignment priorities, contracts and other details that might be helpful as you make your plans to live in the residence halls.
Please be sure to carefully read the 2009–10 Residence Hall System Contract before completing the application.
Application Tips
Get Your UW NetID
Before you can apply to live in the UW residence halls, you will need to set up your UW NetID, which will allow you access to the online housing application. It may take several days for your UW NetID information to be transferred to our database. You should have received information about how to set up your UW NetID with your UW Offer of Admission. Please contact the UW Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 206-543-9686 if you need more information about setting up your UW NetID.
Requesting a Single Gender Floor
Single gender floors are located in Mercer, Terry and McCarty halls. If you would like to request a single gender floor, please email your request to the Student Services Office at hfsinfo@u.washington.edu after submitting your application. Please send the request from your UW email account.
Requesting a Specific Roommate
You may request a specific roommate on your application. Your request will be accommodated if:
Both applications have concurring information; and,
Both applications are submitted at approximately the same time; and,
Both applicants are in the same Priority Group; and,
Space is available.
You will be asked to enter your requested roommate’s UW student number on the application in order to make your request. Please be sure that you and your requested roommate know one another’s UW student numbers before beginning the application. Entering a UW NetID, name or other information will not be recognized as a valid roommate request.
Your Special Interest Community request will supersede your roommate request, unless your roommate also requests and is eligible for that Special Interest Community.
If you do not specify a roommate, you will be assigned one by the Student Services Office. Your responses to the smoking and lifestyle questions on the application will be taken into consideration when your roommate is assigned.
Assignment Notification and HFS Communications
Your room assignment and move-in information will be mailed in mid-August. The UW Department of Housing & Food Services (HFS) will send most correspondence to applicants and residents via their UW email accounts. Please check your UW email account regularly. You are responsible for receiving and reviewing any information sent by HFS to your UW email account.
Please note that if you forward your UW email to a different account, it may be filtered, refused or treated as spam. To ensure delivery of emails from HFS to your email inbox, please add hfsinfo@u.washington.edu and wrproc@hfs.washington.edu to your email address book or list of approved senders.
