Employee Husky Card
Eligibility
To qualify for a University of Washington (UW) ID card (Husky Card), your position must be either a faculty appointment or classified as permanent working at least 50 percent full-time equivalency. Staff classified as temporary and/or hourly do not qualify for the Husky Card.
Obtaining an ID Card
Employees obtaining a UW ID card will need their Employee ID (EID) number and a state- or federally-issued photo ID, such as a United States driver's license or international passport.
Picture ID Cards
All new and replacement UW employee ID cards require a photo. We encourage all staff without a current picture ID card to come in and obtain their first one free of charge. Getting your photo on file at this time will ease the transition to the smart card when it is implemented. You are not yet required to come in and get a new card until the new ID smart card implementation.
New Employees
Our ID system is not updated in real time and requires a nightly feed from the employee payroll system. Once you are entered into the payroll system, it will take at least 24 hours for the system to send the update to our ID card database. In order to save you an unnecessary trip to our office, you can call us at 206-616-0689 and we can check your eligibility over the phone.
Getting Your U-PASS
You can sign up to receive your U-PASS sticker from UW Commuter Services after you have obtained your UW employee ID card (Husky Card). They are located at 3901 University Way NE, and their office hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. For more information, please visit the UW Commuter Services website.
Replacing Your Husky Card and U-PASS
If your Husky Card is lost or damaged and it had a U-PASS sticker on it, you will want to replace your Husky Card first and then visit UW Commuter Services for a new U-PASS sticker. Lost or damaged Husky Cards that had a picture ID are $10 to replace, which can be paid with cash or check. If the replacement will be your first Husky Card with a photo, there is no replacement fee. Visit the UW Commuter Services website for information on U-PASS relacement fees.
Please note: If you have not lost your card, and you elect to come in and get a new picture ID card, we will ask you to turn in your old card. If you have a current U-PASS sticker, we will cut your old card in half and return the pieces to you. You will then need to go to UW Commuter Services (3901 University Way NE) to get a new sticker put on your new card. Show them the pieces of your old card with your old sticker, and they will replace the sticker for you at no cost.
Please check out our ID Center Locations to find the ID Center closest to you.
Husky Card Account Payroll Deduction
Permanent staff or faculty may arrange to have a portion of each paycheck automatically deposited into their Husky Card Account by completing a Payroll Deduction Authorization form. Forms may be obtained at the Husky Card Account & ID Center, located on the ground floor of Odegaard Undergraduate Library. A downloadable Payroll Deduction form is also available here. It can be mailed to UW Box 353085. Payroll deductions must be a minimum of $10 per pay period, and amounts must be in increments of $5.
If you arrange for payroll deduction, the deduction will occur on payday and will be noted on your pay stub. If you notice any discrepancies, please contact us at 206-543-7222.
You may cancel or change your payroll deduction if you notify us at least ten days before the next payday. You must notify us in writing by completing a Payroll Deduction Authorization Form. Changes or cancellations received less than ten days before the next payday will not take effect until the following payday.
