Student Husky Card
Eligibility
Students who are eligible to register, or who have already registered, may obtain their University of Washington (UW) ID cards, called the Husky Card.
Obtaining a Husky Card
Your on-campus orientation session will include a stop at the Husky Card Account & ID Center. If you have registered and will not be participating in an orientation session, you can obtain your Husky Card at the Husky Card Account & ID Center at any time during office hours. You will need to have your student ID number and state- or federally-issued photo identification with you (such as a driver's license or passport). We do not accept high school IDs.
Office Location
The Husky Card Account & ID Center is located on the ground floor of the Odegaard Undergraduate Library, next to the By George café. It is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except UW holidays. For UW satellite locations, please visit our ID Center Locations website.
Using Your Husky Card
Carry your Husky Card with you at all times since it is required for a variety of services on campus. Some campus facilities may require you to hand over your Husky Card in order for you to use their facilities or equipment. Remember to pick up your card when you leave, and make sure that the card returned to you is actually your own. For a complete list of locations that use or require the Husky Card and the Husky Card Account, go here.
U-PASS Stickers
A few weeks before each quarter, most students will be mailed a registration confirmation letter containing an enrollment validation sticker and a U-PASS sticker.
The U-PASS sticker should be affixed to the top of the back of your Husky Card if you choose to keep it. You will be billed the standard U-PASS fee on your tuition account. If you choose not to keep the U-PASS, remove the validation sticker, leave the U-PASS on the mailer, and return the mailer in the enclosed postage-paid, self-addressed envelope. Mail it back no later than the tuition due date and you will not be billed for it.
If you do not receive your U-PASS sticker with your registration confirmation letter, come to the Husky Card Account & ID Center to obtain a replacement. Free replacements are available during the first five days of the quarter. You will be asked to sign a certifying statement and will be issued a replacement U-PASS sticker at no extra charge. After the fifth day of the quarter, a replacement U-PASS sticker costs $40. Visit the Student Fiscal Services website for a description of fees and due dates.
Enrollment Validation Stickers
For matriculated students at the Seattle campus, your enrollment validation sticker should be affixed to the front of your Husky Card as soon as it is received. It is what identifies you as a student enrolled for that quarter and as such is an important part of your Husky Card. The Bothell and Tacoma campuses are no longer using the validation stickers. Students registered in fee-based programs should contact the Extension Office at 206-543-2310 for information regarding their eligibility.
Replacement Cards
If you lose your Husky Card, immediately go to the Husky Card Account website to report your card lost and suspend activity on your account (http://huskycard.hfs.washington.edu), or call the Husky Card Account & ID Center at 206-543-7222 during business hours to report it as lost.
To replace your Husky Card, go to the Husky Card Account & ID Center. You may be required to show legal photo identification to obtain a replacement card. A nonrefundable fee of $10 is charged for replacement of lost or damaged Husky Cards. If you had a U-PASS sticker on the card you lost and want to replace the sticker, there is an additional $40 replacement fee. The cost of replacing a lost Husky Card with a U-PASS sticker is $50. Replacement fees are nonrefundable. Students who are issued replacement stickers are not permitted to cancel the $99 U-PASS fee by returning a sticker.
Card Ownership
The Husky Card is the property of the University of Washington and is not transferable. Do not allow others to use your Husky Card. Doing so is a serious misuse of the Husky Card and as such subjects you to disciplinary action as described in the University of Washington Student Conduct Code.
Residence Hall Students
Your Husky Card is also used to access your Resident Dining Account. Your Resident Dining Account may be used only at UW Food Services locations. For more information on the Resident Dining Account, please visit the Resident Dining Account webpage.
Each quarter, a $35 allotment, billed through your residence hall statement, is added to your Husky Card Account. This payment is to ensure money is available for laundry use in the residence halls.
Additional food money may also be added to this account. If your Resident Dining Account is depleted, your Husky Card Account can be used for food purchases.
